Dear All,

We did a lot hands on activity in our class besides the writing lesson. We cooked Tuna satay in line with our Balinese thematic, thechildren learnt Balinese style and culture of togetherness (Gotong Royong) in preparing the satay.

In English, they’ve been working on comprehension and accuracy from The Cafe Literacy. They made prediction from Pinduli’s story and answering literal question from a text about Komodo Dragon to enhance their comprehension. They also applied cross checking (Does it look right? Does it sound right? Does it make sense?) to check their accuracy during reading time.
In Maths, we worked on number bond 10, 20, 100 almost every morning before the lesson started. They chose any number bond based on their ability. During the real Maths time, they were divided into some groups and we gave them different Math problems such as Bingo Games (mental Maths), two digits addition and two digits subtracting.
We are building our Ogoh-ogoh in the classroom at the moment. The kids have designed their own ogoh-ogoh and The Skeletron (name of the ogoh-ogoh design) was voted with the highest numbers. It’s three headed bone monster that represent forest fire and deforestation in Kalimantan. They also designed a T-shirt that we’re going to wear during the Green School Ogoh-ogoh Festival.

Home Learning Update:
We asked children to write 3 silly sentences using silence k, for example knight, knowledge, know, knock etc.
Have a fantastic holiday! Selamat liburan!

Best,
Grade 2A Team
